All our guests invariably say the same thing: you simply don’t expect to find a garden like this so close to Dampoort. A 330 m² garden, with mature trees and the Beguinage just beyond the wall, where you can hear the church bells ringing on Sundays and wake up to a chorus of birds every morning... Of course, we instantly fell in love with this oasis of greenery and tranquillity! When we bought the apartment, we immediately saw its potential. The first thing we did was raise the ceiling by half a metre. That’s when we discovered an authentic concrete support beam: we sanded it down and lovingly embraced it as a real eye-catcher. We gave the outdated kitchen and bathroom a complete makeover, adding extra insulation and proper ventilation, modern appliances and a sleek poured floor. We had the kitchen designed to measure and chose Firmax fronts and plenty of storage space, because we love cooking so much. The fully renovated bathroom was designed so that we never get in each other’s way when we both have to rush out the door in the morning. Finally, we opted for subtle yet distinctive colours – after all, life is too short for beige, isn’t it? In the bedroom, natural light truly defines the space: large windows, with the last rays of sunshine at the end of the day falling right across the bed... We spent many a Sunday here enjoying a wonderfully slow breakfast in bed. Newspaper, coffee, croissants... Nothing gives away the fact that the city is carrying on just outside. Sint-Amandsberg is fantastic too: close enough to the city centre not to miss out on anything, yet far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle.
