Description

Architectural house in a super-quiet street, close to Cade kindergarten, Cleydael golf club and Antwerp Golf School and so on all the approach roads to Antwerp and Brussels.

Brutal concrete, rough brick, lots of windows... In this vintage Paul De Roo home from 1975, literally everything was kept just as the architect once intended.

You enter from the side, with the handsome living space immediately to the right: brutalist atmosphere thanks to the concrete ceilings and brick walls, character and warmth thanks to the wenge parquet. Down the stairs to the lounge, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide plenty of natural light. The cosy fireplace warms you up in the cooler months. In summer, the garden is the place for a sunny BBQ.

Stairs up from the lounge to the office or separate TV room - the perfect place to retreat to. The architectural interplay between concrete and wood delivers top views here. At the front is the spacious kitchen with a fine bar for a relaxed aperitif or to cut the vegetables while your son or daughter does homework. Here, the windows were deliberately placed facing the street, so you can see your playing offspring while you cook. Handy!

On the 1st floor 2 spacious, bright bedrooms, with a large terrace attached to the master bedroom. Imagine that first morning coffee here... The bathroom is also perfectly sized with bath, shower and double sink. The 2nd floor houses another huge attic, which lends itself perfectly to redistribution into another master bedroom or 2 additional bedrooms.

owner speaks out

We had the house built at the time together with architect Paul De Roo. We loved the modern, brutalist atmosphere even then, and it's great to see that the house still looks contemporary after all these years. Our children grew up here - plenty of room to romp or for hide-and-seek -, and now the grandchildren are already coming over. This house is literally treasure chest full of memories. We think it would be a dream if a new, young family could now add to that treasure chest.
