Description

All kinds of top shops are nearby, and the city's finest bistro, Chicane, is just around the corner. The Groen Kwartier just a few minutes' walk away, the city centre a few minutes' bike ride away as well as quick trips out of town... A top spot for those who enjoy urban life!

This über cool flat on the 2nd floor of a small building received a complete makeover in 2018. Originally dating back to the 70s, this brutalist gem was designed by architect Adri Van Eemeren. All the characteristic 70s elements - rough brick, wide corridors, giga windows - were carefully preserved and thanks to the modern, understated renovation, these authentic details come into their own.

At the front you will find the magnificent living space with fireplace, new parquet floors, large windows with super cosy marble sofas and fantastic amounts of incoming daylight. The living room flows organically into the stylish dining area with adjacent the sleek, open kitchen with cararo marble worktops and more than enough storage space. To the rear is the 1st of 2 cosy terraces.

The 3 bedrooms, quietly located at the back of the flat, can be reached through the wide corridor. All bedrooms are very bright and separated by acoustic glass. Not in the mood for sunshine? Blinds to the rescue. At the back, there is a 2nd, sunny terrace with a very pleasant view over the neighbourhood, a great place to end your day.

Car parking space under the building to be purchased at €30,000.

Particularly successful renovation of spacious flat in stylish 70s brutalism.

owner speaks out

What makes this place so fantastic for me is the spaciousness. It is palpable wherever you stand in this flat. Also the simplicity, thanks to the sleek choice in quality materials, gives me peace: marble, oak, 'white plywood'... Less is really more.

Living in such a large, spacious flat is quite unique. Even when everyone is at home, we have more than enough space, a place where you can and may live to the full. All our guests are always very charmed by the place. This flat clearly has 'something'.

So I fell in love with it immediately after the first visit. The wide living space, the big marble tablet, the mega-sized pivoting windows. Sitting at the dining table with the morning sun on your face, coffee and newspaper on the side.... There is no better feeling.

The structure is also nice and flexible, as all the walls can be broken out. So I took out a couple of walls to get daylight into the central bathroom, thus creating a super spacious area. It was great to be able to design and add a new touch to this 70s flat. Together with my two children, I had fantastic years here. Now that they are flying out, it is time to build a new nest elsewhere.
