Description

Close to town, arterial roads, schools, crèches, Left Bank, Brussels, Antwerp Ring (cycle path) and Kiel Park, soon to be extended with an ambitious master plan. Even shopping or dining can be done on foot here: delicious Italian at Da Giacomo and coffee or lunch at Pain Pidou.

The imposing, brutalist façade in brick and wood immediately stands out in the street scene. Wide entrance hall with black cast floor, fitted cupboards and storage space for bicycles or mopeds. The combination of white brick walls, cupboards and dark floors creates a cool effect.

The ground floor is a great place to live. At the front desk and fun playroom. In the centre, the dining room, where full-height windows subtly draw in the light. Fresh white kitchen on dark floors, with practical pantry and laundry room. Off the kitchen is the 1st, cosy sitting area with access to the quiet city garden: a lovely spot for your morning coffee or sunny BBQ.

Authentic spiral staircase to +1, with fitted hall cupboards, separate toilet and funky red, still original kitchen. Furthermore, an über cosy 2nd lounge with fireplace on 2 sides. Large windows, so lots of natural daylight.

At +2: again built-in hall cupboards, 2 identical bedrooms both with an adjoining shower room on yellow mosaic. Also the bright master has its own bathroom with bath, double sink and toilet. Multifunctional space with lovely roof terrace at +3: currently the 4th bedroom, but could also be used as a giga office, man cave, workshop or playroom.

Architectural family home with lots of space for personal use and a nice garden, near Antwerp.

owner speaks out

Those typical elements of the 1970s; the concrete, the walls in visible brick, the tiles and the staircase... We immediately loved the brutalist-architectural atmosphere in this house. What's also so cool here is that throughout the day you get different looks and vistas into the house, while still staying connected.

In turn, the quiet garden is the ideal because enclosed place for the kids, with a lovely open view of the clouds. Our favourite spot in the house? That's the living room in winter, when we all get cosy playing games around the fireplace; and in summer, the large living kitchen. The roof terrace is also the max: during the whole pandemic we worked on the roof terrace, in the sun. And waking up in spring to the sound of 'our' family of ten sparrows: I cannot imagine a more blissful start to the day....
