Description

The Schuttersvest is within walking distance of the railway station and historic city centre with lots of nice shops such as Les Tartes de Françoise, Le Pain Quotidien, the famous Lamotsite... Mechelen is bustling! At the same time blissfully close to the canal for a breath of fresh air. The Nieuwe Vesten is currently being redesigned: one-way traffic, more greenery, peace and quiet and space for the many cyclists and pedestrians. A total of 5 hectares of greenery and 2,000 trees will be planted by 2029.

Daylight floods into this corner flat - built in 1959, 2nd floor. By lift or via the stylish terrazzo stairwell you arrive in the separate vestibule with a built-in cupboard on the right. You then enter the spacious entrance hall with the guest toilet, storage room, access to the kitchen and again a handy built-in (cloakroom) cupboard. Go straight ahead and you enter the stunning living space: generous space and massive windows, some of which are in a sublime arch shape.

The 2nd bedroom on the left at the back can be resealed, or you can turn it into an open office, TV room or hobby area.

The authentic bathroom and toilet, with its original blue and pink tiles, could use a renovation, as could the good-sized kitchen. Central night hall with access to both bedrooms, bathroom and living room, each with nice block parquet. Communal bike storage on the ground floor and private storage in the basement.

Now just new electricity, bathroom and kitchen (cupboard doors) and you have a super cool, up-to-date 60s flat on your hands.

Whether you're looking for your first flat, or want to move back to the city, this is an ideal investment in a prime location.

The gigantic, curved windows are fantastic. I haven't seen any flat with such impressive windows. So it makes sense that you can fully enjoy the light here in every season. I also really like those little, typical 60s details, such as the stained glass, the authentic block parquet and the beautiful staircase. A flat after my own heart!
