Description

IN OPTION Everything is within walking distance from this quiet street, whether you go for a jog, take a family trip to the big, green Rivierenhof to finish with some goodies at Bar Stark or catch a show at the Open Air Theatre in summer... You are there in the blink of an eye. Public transport, shops, schools and arterial roads are also never far away here.

This super-charming family home was completely gutted and tastefully rebuilt in contemporary style. Original elements - stained glass, floors and fireplaces - were restored to their former glory.

Handsome, authentic façade with ditto front door. Spacious hallway with living room on parquet and beautiful fireplace on the left. Further on: the living kitchen, one of the showpieces of this house, designed by Axelle Vertommen. The well-considered mix of materials, soft curves, sophisticated colours, light beech wood and worktops in pale pink concrete and white composite form a playful combination without becoming restless. For example, the deep red colour of the island is completely in tune with the support beam above it. The large window overlooks the cosy city garden.

On the mezzanine floor lies the next showpiece: the gorgeous bathroom. Here too, the use of materials and colours combined with the huge space gives you a blissful zen feeling.

Also on the 1st floor: master bedroom with 2 large windows allowing maximum light in and 1 nice children's bedroom. The 2nd floor has 2 more spacious bedrooms.

The owners,

owner speaks out

As interior designer and restoration project manager, we did and coordinated a lot ourselves during the renovation of our house. We turned it into a warm family home that we really wanted to live in ourselves. Therefore, no detail was overlooked: we resolutely went for a thorough total renovation with a lot of love for the architecture and the original materials. It was therefore obvious to us that we would preserve and renovate the authentic doors, wooden exterior joinery, floors and ceilings as much as possible. Combining that authenticity with a sleeker, modern rear extension creates a harmonious balance. Our collaboration with Axelle Vertommen, who designed the bathroom and living kitchen, was also a hit. All three of us love calming, yet slightly daring material choices. And the result is worth it! Meanwhile, we are so imbued with this love of renovation that we have set up our own business in complex renovations.

It is also blissful that we live so close to the Rivierenhof. Walking to the park, a coffee at Bar Stark or a gig at the OLT.... Lovely to have that green lung within walking distance.
