Description

This pedestrianised street in the heart of the fashion district connects Nationalestraat with Kammenstraat, with everything within walking distance: little Bogaardeplein with petanque field, the best fries in town at CHIPS, coffee bar Antoine, Muntplein, Scheldekaaien (wharfs), restaurants, supermarkets, hairdressers, crèches, schools and the bustling Zuid (South).

The sympathetic tiles on the façade already reveal something about the high dose of charm in what long ago was once a praline shop. On the ground floor, the large window at the front recalls bygone chocolate times; the beautiful open and bright stairwell, high ceilings, authentic fireplaces and ditto glassware, a spacious, bright living space and open kitchen with original cement tiles do the rest. Instant cosiness: cook quietly while your guests have a drink at the bar or sip on the sunny, green patio. The house has a full basement, giving you plenty of extra storage space. In the basement there is a connection for a washing machine and dryer.

In the middle of the 1st floor, you can imagine yourself in Parisian spheres in the charming bathroom with bath, double washbasin and toilet. To the left is the charming 1st bedroom and to the right the 2nd bedroom, currently furnished as a dressing room. The 3rd and 4th bedrooms, now children's room and TV room, are on the 2nd floor. The glass section in the upper landing allows light to filter all the way down. Flexibility trumps: 4 bedrooms are possible, but other infill spaces are certainly also possible.

At the rear of the house, you enjoy the beautiful view of the historic ´House Happaert´, there is no overlooking and you have a beautiful green view. Good to know: possibly 2 rental car parking spaces to take over in the parallel Happaertstraat.

High dose of charm, atmosphere and authenticity in super centrally located town house.

owner speaks out

Peace and quiet in the middle of the city? It exists! The sunny, green city courtyard and back façade completely overgrown with ivy, lots of sun and light in the house, the super-charming façade with its colourful tiles and beautiful windows and so many other, fun, authentic elements... We were immediately sold and felt instantly at home here!

We are also going to miss the neighbourhood immensely: not only do we have super nice neighbours next to and about us, everyone knows each other here. The neighbourhood feels a bit like Paris in Antwerp city centre and everything is so close. Pull open the door and you're immediately at your favourite shop or at the supermarket, on the cosy shopping - strolling streets, tasty bakeries, freshers, the weekly market or on the Scheldt... Bliss. Plus, the tastiest fries can be found just down the street!

Pull the door shut behind you and you're back in your wonderfully peaceful, green and bright cocoon.

The house is also hugely flexible. Thanks to the fairly large rooms, the house lends itself to a wide variety of uses, growing with the stage of life you are in. In the nine years we lived here, we first had the bedroom and dressing room on the top floor and office at +1, and the previous owners lived here with three children, so you see....
