Description

Unique in terms of location and history, right in the heart of the historic city centre, close to the Scheldt, shops, museums and Central Station - a more central location would be hard to find.

Merchant's house 'Den Kemel' was already mentioned in the history books. This traditional period house - including its iconic stepped gable - was rebuilt in 1900 to the design of the then city architect Alexis Van Mechelen. In 2007, 3 historic buildings were connected to form 5 sublime residential units, of which this duplex penthouse was renovated to a high standard in 2013.

Even the entrance hall of this beautifully maintained building looks to pass through a ring. You reach the 3rd floor by lift via Grote Markt or via the indoor garage at Oude Beurs (rear).

From the cosy living room with custom-made cherry wood, you can go to the 1st terrace, delightfully high above the buzz of the city. Next is the giga (master) bedroom with en suite bathroom and lots of storage space. You can enjoy the view of Antwerp's pride and joy from almost all rooms: the magnificent Cathedral of Our Lady.

On the other side is the stylish XL dining room with the 2nd, partly covered and also south-facing terrace. Dishwashing out of sight? You can completely shut off the modern kitchen (with quality Gaggenau appliances) from the dining area. Handy extra: the many built-in cupboards!
Upstairs 2 large bedrooms with another 2 bathrooms, 1 with shower and 1 with blissful bath. Underfloor heating and air conditioning in all rooms, so good sleep guaranteed.

Possibility to buy an indoor parking space (45,000eur).

[aanhetwoord]
We immediately fell in love with the grandeur of the building on the Grand Place - unique in every way! Because the flat is on the street side of the Old Stock Exchange, you have the golden combo here: the extremely central location, the magnificent view of the Cathedral (even from the bath!) AND yet the peace and quiet, without the immediate bustle of the Grote Markt.

The luxurious high level of finishing is also a huge trump card. You are surrounded by technical gadgets - air conditioning, dimming lights, underfloor heating, many sockets and utp connections and high-quality materials - and at the same time the house breathes history.

Because the sliding windows to the terraces can be opened completely, you create one large living space and get the feeling of living in a house. Especially on summer evenings, that indoor-outdoor feeling is wonderful!

We also always liked the fact that the lift opens into the flat. You only have one flat per floor here, so you live surprisingly quietly. The neighbours are also very nice, everyone knows everyone here. Our first pit stop in the morning is usually Caffe Mundi, the coffee shop on the corner. Less than 100 metres away is a good bakery and butcher and we get the best magazines at IMS on Kaasrui. Our children play basketball on the Veemarkt or Sint-Jansvliet... We will definitely miss that cool neighbourhood life! One more fun fact to conclude: on this square, this is the only building whose garage also has an exit on the Grote Markt.
