Description

Almost IN Te Boelaer Park - here you can really take the golden combo of city and greenery literally. Established spots like Bar Brul, Table d'Ho and the swimming pond of the nearby Boekenberg Park, lie shoulder to shoulder here with fine new businesses like Bottle Luck. Primary school the Butterfly Tree (in the park) is your opposite neighbour.

Architect Lode Wouters himself lived with his family in this stunningly well-preserved modernist house from 1961. The concrete skeleton façade, where glass sections and brickwork alternate rhythmically, is reminiscent of Mondrian's work. Front door with bright red reference to the lord of the house.

Wonderful, sun-drenched living spaces: raised, intimate sitting area with fireplace (underneath the garage), bright dining area and a nice play corner or bird-watching spot at the garden window. From the semi-open kitchen you are always in touch with what is happening inside and outside, in the lovely garden. Much of the fixed furniture comes directly from the architect's hand: cupboards, tables, desks, beds and sofas... Everything here forms one well-thought-out whole.

Open wooden staircase with at +1 the large, fully intact office and a 1st bedroom. At +2 you will find the 2nd children's room and the parents' quarters with bedroom, dressing room and bathroom. Finally, on +3 awaits the 4th bdrm and an attic space.

Connoisseurs speak of a modest masterpiece: contemporary, functional and unpretentious, inspired by brutalism, radical modernism and Scandinavian architecture.

We always really appreciated the tremendous sense of space and light in the living spaces.

owner speaks out

It was wonderful as a child to play carefree in front of the door, in our car-free street, or to go to the park with friends. We spent hours swinging and playing in the sandbox in 'our' part of the large garden. To go to school, we only had to walk into the park.... What a luxury!
In the living areas, we always really appreciated the huge sense of space and light. The large east- and west-facing windows played a starring role there, and the beautiful, thoughtful furnishings with custom-made cupboards and book shelves, desks, bed and sofas, completed the picture. What is also so nice is that from the living room you can fully enjoy the view of the garden. This is an extension of the living room, a true green oasis with no overlooking.
